The Coffee Could Protect The Cancer

Coffee, possible anti-cancer

The coffee could protect the cancer of the head and neck. The results of a recent study joined the body of evidence to indicate that coffee protects it from cancer, in this case of cancer of head and neck.

The full results were published online in Cancer Epidemiology, Biomarkers & Prevention, a magazine of the American Association for Cancer Research. Using information from a combined analysis of nine studies collected by the consortium INHANCE (International Head and Neck Cancer Epidemiology), participants classified as usual drinkers of coffee, i.e. those who drank some four cups of coffee a day or more, showed a 39 percent less risk of developing a cancer combined pharynx and oral cavity, compared with the non drinkers.

The data on the decaffeinated coffee were too small to carry out a detailed analysis, but did not indicate an increased risk. The tea consumption was not associated with the risk of cancer of the head and neck. The association is stronger among the usual drinkers of coffee (which consume more than four cups of coffee a day).

Recently, the results of another study published in the january issue of Cancer Epidemiology, Biomarkers & Prevention showed a decline in the risk of gliomas or brain tumors, associated with coffee. According to the researchers Imperial College in London, this partnership is observed among those who drank five or more cups of coffee or tea a day.
