Tips for Irritable Bowel Syndrome
Diet and tips for irritable bowel syndrome
If you have been diagnosed with Syndrome of “ibs” or “irritable bowel” and constipated or mild diarrhea or alternation of constipation and diarrhea, should increase the intake of fiber, through:
* Increase consumption of foods rich in fiber: bread , fruit with skin and vegetables.
* Use supplements of Wheat Bran: 4 to 8 tablespoons daily, mixed with liquid or food.
* At times your doctor may prescribe medications such as:
o Plantaben®, 1 on every 8 or 12 hours dissolved in a glass of water, or
o Cenat®, 2 teaspoons every 12 hours with a glass of water.
Alter their habits of meals:
* Make a diet “low in fat” and “rich in protein” (meat and fish).
* Eat slowly, and seek chew.
* Avoid food copious, are preferable meals more frequent and less abundant.
* Avoid foods that you note that you trigger or worsen their symptoms. The most often it hurt are: spices, alcohol, tonic, soups of envelopes, cocoa, dairy products, cheeses, yogurt, cakes, pastries, ice cream, butter, …
* If is prevalent diarrhea avoid dairy products, coffee, tea and chocolate. You can take milk plant (almonds).
* Avoid drinks with gas and food gas as: cabbage, cauliflower, beans, chickpeas, lentils, Brussels sprouts, onions, leeks, peas, dried fruit and preserved.
* Increase water intake (of 1.5 to 2 liters a day), especially if the predominant constipation.
* Maintain a fixed schedule for meals, and try evacuate always at the same time and without haste, preferably after breakfast.
* Perform physical exercise, walking, swimming, …
* The abdominal pain can relieve applying heat local soft.
* Avoid the use of laxatives.
* Avoid, as far as possible, the situations to get nervous or stressed.
A diet:
* Breakfast and lunch:
o Milk almond infusion of coffee or tea. Sugar. Bread. Margarine. Fruit: apple, pear, banana… Natural fruit juice.
* Main Meals:
o Broths and soups vegetable or meat, non-fat.
o Pasta, potatoes cooked or to oven. Rice.
o Meat without fat (beef, chicken, turkey, pork, lamb) cooked, the oven or iron. No fried.
o Fish of all types, not fried.
o Eggs.
o All vegetables except those listed above.
o Salad of lettuce, endive, tomato.
o Fruit: apple, pear, banana. Apples to the oven. Jelly.
o Bread.
* Additions:
o Oil (olive, sunflower, corn): two spoonfuls to the day.
o Beverages: only water or juices of fruit.
o You Can seasoning with salt, unless it is indicated by other diseases (hypertension…).
